I am a painter and a photographer.

However, this wasn't always the case. For much of my life, I was fully entrenched in the worlds of hospitals or Corporate America. I played many different roles in insurance, software development, retail and newspapers. My career was very "Left Brain" oriented.

But I also had a secret passion.

In my parallel life, I dabbled in the arts. When I was young, Mom had the foresight to buy me a John Gnagy "Learn to Draw" kit. I drew the pretty ladies on the Simplicity patterns and my idols from teen magazines. My first glimpse of fame was winning first place in the Canton Junior High School Arts and Science fair. As a teen, I procured my mother's 1950's Argus film SLR camera and began capturing the world around me. I've since graduated to a Canon EOS T1i digital SLR.

Buying into the myth that you can't make a living as an artist, I pursued a practical career path. But, all the while, I continued with my painting and photography. I've been fortunate to have a number of talented artists, with an amazing gift for teaching, in my life. One, with a unique spiritual strength, sparked a passion that lay dormant and I began developing my painting skills in earnest. And I continue to debunk those myths.
