My interest in art began with visits to the Rhode Island School of Design Art Museum with my father. Admission was free and the attraction for my father were the "foreign films" featured on Sunday afternoons. Wandering the galleries before the film began, I was drawn to the paintings from other eras and intrigued by how each work of art had a story to tell.
I studied art in college, expecting to become a teacher or art historian but circumstances lead me to a career in hospital social work management. Recent life changes allowed me the time to return to art, specifically to painting. My work can be bold, a bit dramatic, and most definitely colorful. Intuition guides my painting process, choice of palette, tools, marks, and patterns. Materials include acrylic paints, oil and cold wax, pigment sticks, ink, pencils, crayons, stencils, hand-made collage papers, and found objects
I have studied online with Louise Fletcher, Pamela K Beer, and Nicholas Wilton. In 2023, I was one of eight artists chosen for the "8 Visions" show at the Attleboro Arts Museum. I have also exhibited at local galleries including Gallery Z, HeARTspot, and Studio Hop.
